Case Study

Company

Tetuán Mediterranean Film Festival is a space that invites local and international cinema lovers to experience dreams, discovery and exploration. Directors, professionals, actors, public and students meet up to discover new Mediterranean films, to open up on new representations of the world, attend seminars, participate in roundtables, and take part of workshops and film classes. It is an extraordinary opportunity where fans connect with their favourite stars and start discussions with filmmakers and film critics on key issues.

Problem

In 2012 the Tetuán film festival came to our agency to create a new logo for the festival. They wanted new ideas to better represent the city of Tetuán, Morocco, where the festival takes place, rather than the industry of film-making, which was its prior focus.

Approach

We did some research about the history of the city and the festival. We learned that the city of Tetuán—which originally means “eyes” in Arabic—is also known by its nickname, “White dove.” We also learned that the festival organizers wanted to highlight the city in its logo, and thus we geared our work towards this solution.

Solution

We created a new logo using the dove, the symbols of the city of Tetuán. The initial “T” is part of the dove, and bright colours are used because of the liveliness of cinema.

Outcomes

The new logo for the festival was well received by the followers and participants of the festival. The city of Tetuán felt well represented by the dove.
